CHAPLAINCY TRAINING

Church of God, chaplaincy involves ministry outside the traditional church setting, often in hospitals, schools, the military, or prisons. These chaplains, called Vocational Chaplains and Community Service Chaplains provide spiritual support, counseling, and guidance to individuals and groups in need, often in secular environments.

The Church of God’s chaplaincy ministry aims to extend the Gospel’s reach beyond the local church into various sectors of society, such as hospitals, schools, prisons, and the military.

Types of Chaplains:

  • Vocational Chaplains: Ordained clergy who are employed by organizations or institutions to provide chaplaincy services.

     

  • Community Service Chaplains: Clergy and laypersons who volunteer their services in various settings to provide spiritual care and support.

Areas of Service:

Chaplains serve in a wide range of settings, including:

  • Military: Serving alongside military personnel and their families.
  • Hospitals: Providing spiritual support to patients and their families.
  • Schools: Offering guidance and support to students, faculty, and staff.
  • Prisons: Providing spiritual and emotional support to inmates.
  • Other settings: Chaplains also serve in hospices, nursing homes, disaster areas, and other places where spiritual care is needed.

 

Endorsement and Training:

The Church of God Chaplains Commission provides endorsement for Vocational Chaplains and certification for Community Service Chaplains, ensuring that they meet the necessary standards and receive appropriate training.
